Welcome to the NICE Aircraft Services & Support GmbH training center, where excellent education meets practical expertise. In the world of aviation, where safety and precision are paramount, we offer you a range of specialized training courses in the field of aircraft deicing.

Our training program for deicing personnel at Frankfurt Airport and workers from other airports is carefully developed based on international Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) standards to not only teach you the latest aircraft deicing procedures and techniques, but also ensure that personnel are prepared for all eventualities. From basic courses for new team members to advanced workshops for experienced professionals - our offerings cover all requirements and competency levels.

At NICE Aircraft Services & Support GmbH, our training is designed to maximize operational efficiency while maintaining the highest safety standards. We use modern training rooms, four state-of-the-art deicing simulators from Vestergaard Company A/S and our own training aircraft (Avro RJ85) on which practical training can be performed under realistic conditions.

Discover our training courses led by experienced instructors and become part of a community that strives to constantly redefine the limits of safety and effectiveness in the field of aircraft deicing.

To ensure the highest safety standards in aircraft deicing, we offer tailor-made training programs for our employees and workers hired out to us by service providers as well as annual refresher training for experienced specialists. All training courses consist of theoretical and practical parts carried out by experienced instructors.

INIs are completely new deicers who have not completed basic training. At the end of a two-day theoretical training, an exam is held. When this is successfully completed, the student can take part in five-day practical training.

New deicers are referred to as trainees if they have successfully completed both the theoretical and practical basic training. In real operation, under instructors’ supervision, they then receive at least minor acceptance or, if they need to drive under the Boeing 747 or Airbus A340 stabilizer, major acceptance. If no acceptance takes place, the deicer remains a trainee and takes part in a one-day theoretical refresher and three-day practical INI refresher before the next season.

DOB/DOB light refers to deicers who have successfully completed an acceptance test and are allowed to operate the deicing vehicle independently. The difference is that fully-fledged DOBs are also able to practice successfully driving under the stabilizer on four-engine, wide-body aircraft (B747/A340).

This is only rarely possible due to the small number of aircraft in use, so "major acceptance" often takes place much later. This restriction is, however, irrelevant for the deicer's further career as well as his or her possible use in relation to position deicing. The second year after acceptance should be used to gain experience before qualifying as a Position Operator Beta (POB) can take place in the third year.

Candidates for this training are tested and determined by NICE before the start of the training season in terms of experience and days of operation.

In the third year, qualification as a POB takes place. The candidates for this training are assessed and determined by NICE before the training season starts in terms of experience and days of deployment. As part of a three-day training course, refresher sessions for DOB/DOB light and training on the additional content and features of position deicing take place. After this training, the employee can be deployed in all areas of deicing at Frankfurt Airport.

If a deicer can deice both on the deicing pad and in position, this qualification is maintained through appropriate theory and practical training.
